Being able to sit down with a luxurious coffee in the brief lull of unexpected afternoon quiet or in the evening is just good stuff. If you can have a biscotti or a truffle with it, well so much the better. This is an awesome coffee drink infused with the taste of old Mexico: chocolate and cinnamon.
Mexican Latte
- 1 cup half & half
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup ghiradelli chocolate syrup
- 6 cups water brought just to the boil
- 3 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup coarsely ground dark roast coffee beans
- whipped cream
- cocoa
Combine the half and half , vanilla, chocolate and sugar in a saucepan and heat stirring constantly. Just bring to a simmer, don’t boil. Carefully froth with hand blender or in a blender.
Add the coffee and cinnamon to a French press coffee pot. Add the hot water. Press as usual.
Pour the frothed cream mixture halfway in cups. Fill with coffee. Top with whipped cream.Dust with cocoa. Serves 4

Hm. My Mexican coffee is just half a cup of Kahlua to half a cup of coffee, shot of creamer. Guess I was doing it wrong, but it felt OH so good!
And Irish coffee? Heh. 3/4 cup Bailey’s, shotglass full of coffee. Mix. Drink. Fall down.
LOL! I don’t drink for the most part so I have to find other ways…
Marye, I couldn’t find where to email you. I came across a site I thought you would be interested in.
