My Favorite Commercial form When I was Growing Up

I explained on Baking Delights that Marc and I are going away for our anniversary this weekend so I would not be posting the blog surfing Saturday..
This is absolutely my favorite commercial from when I was a kid. I can remember sitting in front of the black and white t.v. watching in fascination…in fact..I knew what Red Rose Tea was before I understood that a Chatty Cathy Doll was the best gift ever.
I don;t know how many other mom’s were forced to buy Red Rose Tea by small girls that wanted to make sure the monkeys got paid..but I know my mother drank the stuff until we moved to Texas and could no longer buy it. Absolutely forced by my total loyalty to the monkeys.

Oh my. Red rose tea. We couldn’t get it in Illinois when I was a kid, and my Mom’s ‘rents were from Canada. We got it there, and they had those cute little ceramic animals in the tea boxes, remember? I had a HUGE collection of them – I wonder what ever happened to them.
Marye! My local grocer carries Red Rose!! I will have to send you a box! Love those monkeys!! Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
Heather-those ceramics sell for big bucks on ebay
Chrissy I did enjoy my weekend thanks!
Marye:
Glad you had a great trip.
I looked at the grocer’s for Red Rose, but I couldn’t find it. I know I have seen it recently, maybe at a different store. I remember my grandmother using it and also remember she gave me the elephant, squirrel and owl.
Sort of off topic of tea, but do you remember or know of “Wedding Oats”? It is oatmeal that came with the plastic tumblers inside the box. I am from the South so don’t know if it was just marketed here or not. After a short period of non-production, it is back on the shelves here. I love the things that remind me of “Nanny” and the “good ‘ol days”. Wish we could go back for a visit…….
Happy Saturday,
Chrissy
I understant Chrissy… was thinking the other day Iwould gladly endure one of my mom’s tirades for a few minutes with her.
I don;t remember wedding oats..but I remember when Dolly Parton helped sell the clothes soap with towels in it.
