Passionfruit Iced Tea: My Way

 vintage tea pitcher

O.k..so I did not make it back in time to post anything yesterday.

The VA always takes a long time and yesterday was no exception.  Labs at 10:30…waiting…check in….waiting….waiting…pharmacy…waiting….

You get it right? So they increased the amounts of Marc’s pain meds and scheduled him for consults with other specialists.  I am telling you, they have practically turned the man inside out in the past couple of months.

Believe it or not, the VA Hospital in Dallas has a Starbucks. I thought that was so funny.  I mean, we can multi-task, and head for the VA for our coffee dates.

Anyway..the weather is getting warmer and it will soon be time to switch to iced tea. I have been thinking about my version of You-Know-Who ’s  Passionfruit Iced tea..

Oh, the pitcher is old.  I am not sure where it came from, but it was my mom’s and it has, to my knowledge,  NEVER been used in the last 48 years!  Pretty though.

This makes a half- gallon of passion-fruit tea, but add the syrup to the glass as you pour the tea for best results.

1/3 c Adagio Passionfruit Tea

1 1/2 c sugar

1/2  gallon of water

1-2 Tbs Toriani Passionfruit syrup per glass

cracked ice

Blood orange, lime, and lemon slices for garnish

Bring 2 quarts of cold, filtered water with 1 1/2 cups of sugar stirred in, to the boil, but  do not boil it. When it is about to boil remove from heat and add the tea. Allow to steep for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour into a pitcher through a strainer. Allow to come to room temperature before chilling.

To Serve:

Fill shaker with cracked ice. Add syrup and tea. Shake and pour into frosted glasses.

This sounds delicious. I love passionfruit, have some in the tea stock now. But, your recipes sounds better than just brewing up a cup!
