Pumpkin Spice Latte Just Like You Know Whose

I love the pumpkin spice lattes. I honestly liked the maple macchiatos better but Starbucks discontinued it, at least in our area, and I turned my attention to the pumpkin spice lattes.

I get them with extra whipped cream. Yep. Extra. I only have one a week and I want it to be over -the-top…and it is.

You can make a pumpkin spice latte easily at home as long as you have a good blender. Try this and see if it isn’t as good as…you know. Theirs.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

1 Tbs pumpkin

1/2 c half and half

1 tsp packed brown sugar

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp nutmeg (freshly grated, please)

1/8 tsp cloves

1/2 tsp vanilla or 1 tbs vanilla coffee syrup

1 c strong coffee

3 Tbs heavy cream

1 Tbs sugar

whipped cream for topping

nutmeg to dust whipped cream

Brew coffee.

In a blender puree the 1/2 and 1/2, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, brown sugar and vanilla. Pour into a small saucepan and cook over low heat until the 1/2 and 1/2  is warm and begins to froth slightly, 5 minutes.  Remove from heat.

Pour 1/2 cup of the pumpkin mixture into your coffee mug. Add 3  tablespoons of heavy cream. Heat in the microwave for 45 seconds, then add 1 cup of brewed coffee. Add 1 Tbs of sugar. Cover with whipped cream and sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve immediately.

I love those pumpkin spice lattes! Yes, I think I had the maple one, too. Why did they take those away?
I’ll have to try your version. I love extra whipped cream.

    Emiline-
I think that they took them away because an alien war committee landed at corporate and implanted anti-maple computer chips in the people that make the decisions at Starbucks.
I believe the aliens love maple syrup and plan on taking it all.
It is the only thing I can think of.

  3. Marye~ You are my hero.
I’ve never had a pumpkin spice latte from you know who buuuuuut I’ve had them other places and oh my my! :-)

  4. I’ve never had anything like this before, but it sounds really delicious! I’m going to print the recipe and try it one of these days—maybe one day this autumn, like when it finally cools off a bit here. Just reading the ingredients puts me in mind of Thanksgiving! Thanks for sharing this.

I know this isn’t about “Pumpkin Spice” lattes, but a few years ago Dunkin Donuts served “Peppermint Mocha” lattes and they were incredible! To my knowledge they have no plans on having it again anytime soon, which is highly frustrating. Does anyone have a good recipe for this particular drink?
