Roasting Coffee

I always thought I was way cool because I like to make bread from scratch..and then I got a wheat grinder and I felt like Ma, in Little House on th Prairie, right? It seems just when I start feeling all superior because I am being so self sufficient someone raises the bar.
So now, we have to roast our own coffee to be cool. Mind you, the idea fascinates me and you might as well know that I am sitting here with visions of green coffee beans dancing in my head.
I did just write an article on roasting your own coffee but it is in editing right now, and has not been o.k.’d. UPDATE: Coffee Roasting Guide
So apparently you can roast coffee in nearly anything…an I find that to be hysterically funny. I have a vision of myself standing in front of a stainless steel bowl with my paint removal gun blasting away.
“Just a minute honey, I am almost done.”
I promise you, in the next month, I am going to get green coffee beans, and try my hand at roasting them in something, and then hand stencil bags to put them in. Really, I needed something else to do.

Making things fr scratch is so homey and comforting. I love slicing bread I’ve made, spreading some jelly on it and knowing it is substantial enough for a light breakfast.
Roasting your own coffee sounds fun. You’re going to detail all of it, right? I’d love to see pictures.
oh yeah! Oh.and the article is published…
Awesome. Hey, by the way, I stopped over at Baking Delights, read your step by step to OAM cooking.
Thank you for posting that. My tries have all met failure, but now I know what I was doing wrong. I even spent half an hour yapping at my husband about it. We are going to start saving up so we can shop once, then cook together. Sorry if I should have posted this there!
