Silver Joe’s Mocha Java

When we got the box from Silver Joe’s we just automatically started with the mocha java.  No real reason, it was what we pulled out of the box first.

I really like the look of the bags.  I have some touch sensitivity issues…o.k…a LOT of touch sensitivity issues which get worse all the time.  I thought the bags were going to bother me but they didn’t.

The coffee beans were uniform in size and the aroma that came from the bag was earthy and rich.  The beans were a bit drier than I expected them to be.

The brewing aroma was nice, not amazing.  Understand, that with the size of our house it takes something AMAZING to make the kitchen smell amazing…we have something like 300 sq ft for a kitchen..maybe more.  And then there is the 11 ft ceilings, so I tend to be more surprised when the coffee makes the kitchen smell than when it doesn’t.

Anyway.

The coffee was dark with a nice sheen to it.  The earthy complexity was a bit more pronounced.  It did not have the heavy bittersweet chocolate notes that I expect from a mocha java but it was good; smooth and  full bodied.

I suggest that you brew this coffee a little stronger than you are used to brewing, however.  We liked it better when we used more coffee to water ratio than normal.

I used a big image so you can see how cool the bags are.

    Hi Marye,
Isn’t this the coffee put out by the Airstream Co.?

300 sq. ft kitchen…I AM SO JEALOUS RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE!!!! PLUS THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE 11 FT. CEILINGS!!!!! Why I could fit both my dining room tables and my work table in there. Lucky woman!!!!

Ummm Cori, before you get jealous you may also like ot know that it is totally un-restored..with big strips of seam tape (the construction kind) hanging form the stained ceiling, rotting countertops and just not very pleasant…yet. Marc became disabled and lost his job about the time we were going to begin work on the kitchen..LOL!

“Un-restored”…isn’t that just another name for “character” or even “charming”?

I don’t think my kitchen is in any better shape. The linoleum under my bird cage is buckled so when I mop I always find grass growing out of the cracks within the week. I live in a 55 year old house with the original oven, counter tops, cupboards, and everything else plus it lacks character of the architectural sort. Sad really!

I’m sorry to hear about Marc. That’s got to be hard on all of you! Sometimes life just isn’t fair!

My sink is green with holes that are patched, can I join the club? We did do some restoration on it ourselves. Like peeling all the paper, patching and painting. I replaced the stove and microwave, but the fridge and dishwasher don’t match them because I can’t afford it all at once. My kitchen is probably smaller than everyone’s. It’s a walk through and my son and I had a arguement because he was unloading the dishwasher slowly and I couldn’t fill the refigerator because we would need to occupy the same space. Our ceilings are less than 8 ft high. My brother in law has to duck under the ceiling fans. You can’t stand on a stool at the cabinet if it’s running, because you might get hit. We all have issues.
