Starbucks Arabian Mocha Sanini

No one was more surprised than I was when I picked up a bag of Starbucks Arabian Mocha Sanini at the Starbuck’s Kiosk in the grocery store. It was more expensive than what I would normally pay, especially considering that I am at the point where coffee and tea companies send me free samples to try.
But… I wanted to taste a 16.99 a pound coffee. I expected this post to be sarcasticly biting, somewhat like the flavor I expected from the coffee.
But it wasn’t. And this won’t be either.
I loved this coffee. It was extra dark, smoothly silky in texture with lingering clove, raisin, and berry flavors. It had none of the usual acrid over-roasted taste that I normally associate with Starbuck’s, but was smooth all the way through, with a pleasant aftertaste that was almost a cardamom, although some might describe it as citrus.
I didn’t think the aftertaste was clean enough to be citrus, it was more mysterious and exotic, thus caradamom. This is a complex coffee, well worth the 16.99 I paid. I know, I am shocked myself, but there you go. Miracles do happen.
Give this one a try. I think it is seasonal so it won’t be around for long.

At that price, it better open the bag and brew itself, then walk over to me, gently waking me with its’ aroma from my slumber.
Of course, I’m cheap.
yeah but this is what I get paid the big bucks for…LOL!
Marye: I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way about Starbucks. The bitterness of it makes me wonder why some people are so into it. I do enjoy a their caramel macchiato, if I can get someone to make it right. Yesterday my husband and I went in for some coffee and he asked for a decaf drink with sugar free syrup. You wouldn’t believe the hastle we got. The girl kept insisting they could do one or the other but not both. Finally, the manager came by and said they could do it. lol
I’m glad you found some Starbucks beans you like. That’s a hefty price to pay though. Too bad we live so far apart. I’d love to have coffee with you.
Karen, I have been to S’bucks where I had awesome service but since the one we went to closed we have shifted to Panera.
I seems to be one of the few that is a fan of Starbucks but I haven’t tried many of their bags of coffee that you can take home…yet.
Mike, I am just too rebellious to be a fan of *the man*, man. Corporations get on my nerves.
Finding it intriguing that you enjoyed the bolder roast, Marye. I had my first cup of Starbucks coffee just yesterday. Hoist the flag! I chose the mildest blend and it was the most vile, bitter-tasting stuff I’ve ever endured. And, since the cup was a gift, I had to endure to the end…yup, the bitter end.
Vee, I dislike any of their plain coffees at the stores. I like a few of the sweet drinks. This coffee was not bitter, though, I was amazed.
I agree…Arabian Mocha Sanini is a wonderfully rich, yet balanced coffee. My son works for Starbucks and brought this little gem home just before the holidays. What a pleasant surprise! Loved every sip of it, and I was lucky enough to get another pound of it for Mother’s Day.
Nice! Thanks for stopping by.
