Starbucks Ethiopia Sidamo

I am sitting here this morning absolutely bleary eyed, hoping that the caffeine will soon jump start the gray matter.

Do you know that the baristas at our Starbucks don’t even know when they are closing? It seems very unfair to me..and then I wonder…is it an angle? I mean, are they hoping that by announcing closings that they will get people to rush to the store? Then, like an adolescent game playing girl they can “suddenly relent”….

Because you our customers have requested it..we well leave these stores open…

We’ll see.

Anyway. I picked up a bag of the Ethiopia Sidamo the other day. As usual I am not picking up the same flavor notes as everyone else seems to . This coffee is described as “bold, with citrus and chocolate notes and a fleeting floral aroma”

It is bold, but very smooth for a Starbucks roast. There is a slight acidity left on the tongue. I did not detect floral notes at all but rather more of a lemon balm and nutmeg type of aroma. I think that the lemon notes that people are tasting is the acidity rather than any real lemon flavor.

Unless I am totally out of my mind, which as anyone in my family will tell you, is entirely possible, I am tasting a distinct rich cinnamon note in this coffee, as well as a pleasant toasty-ness. Almost like cinnamon toast.

It is a pleasant coffee, not an exceptional one. I like it better than most of what Starbucks produces.

Starbucks must be having a rough time(tic)….the one across from the pediatrician’s office is gone (there are three others within two blocks plus about 5 other coffee shops)….But what has me chuckling….. it was replaced by a coffee shop! Go figure.

That is funny Ginger..But probably wise on the part of the coffee shop!
