Starbucks Limited Edition: Worth 26.00 a Pound?

 ethiopia sun dried sidamo

I can’t resist limited edition coffee.  I like flying first class, too.  Just another one of my oddities in that there are some things I will pay for and others I hate paying for.

The Starbucks Ethiopia Sun Dried Sidamo is described as “Bursting with black cherry notes and exotic layers of cocoa and spice…”

It comes in a tin and retails for 12.95 per half pound.  The question is…does it live up to the description?

It is very smooth, extra bold coffee.   There are some faint cherry notes but I felt that it was less complex then the Kenya.  I would expect a rich, winey coffee and this one just doesn’t live up to that.

It is a great all purpose coffee, in that it’s flavor is balanced enough that nothing really stands out.

But for 26.00 a pound I want much more than that.

You?
