Starbucks Takes Over the World!

O.k….well…no. Not really. I lied.

But they seem to be wanting to get their fingers in an awful lot of pies lately. What happened to companies justs sticking with one thing and doing it well. What happened to Antitrust laws? Geez.

Anyway. The corporate monster is coming out with a line of chocolate and I bet it is good too. They have flavors based on the Tazo Teas, and their own coffees…

The line is from Artisan Confections Co., and is….SURPRISE! A subsidiary of The Hershey Co. Starbucks will not carry the chocolate but I guess you will be able to pick it up at Krogers and who knows where else.

Do you detect a slightly sneering tone? O.k..do you detect a massive sneering tone? Sorry.

Starbucks tries to promote themselves as a very eco-friendly, socially and ethically responsible company. Hershey’s is definitely a big contributer to the Cocoa Plantations on the Ivory Coast.

I use Hershey’s once in awhile. I hate myself for it but the amount of baking I do, I can’t afford the lovely, and much tastier, Fair Trade stuff.

But I am a firm believer in organics, Fair Trade, and small companies. And once Starbucks jumps in Hershey’s bed, well….sigh. They give birth to yet a bigger conglomerate. Sort of like the Blob, or godzilla in the 1950s movies..there is no stopping it. :D
