With just a few more days left in September, October is in the wings.  And, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

One of the things going on is the Second Annual  Boobie Bake Off at Baking Delights.  We have a great time with this so sign up!

But…Another way to raise money for Breast Cancer Research is to have a pink party.

In Victorian times pink teas were all the rage and they experienced a return to popularity in  the 1930s and 40s as pink parties. Pink would be the theme and everything on the menu would be …pink. I was thinking about that last night and all of a sudden started putting a menu together for a pink tea.

What you would do is to prepare a pink themed tea, invite your guests and ask them to bring a donation for Susan G. Komen Foundation.   This would be a great opportunity for your church ladies group as well!

Decorating for a Pink Party

Your theme is pink.  Pink feather boas are fun, and they are cheap, too.  A fun centerpiece is to use vintage purses that are held open and lay them on their sides with various items spilling out …mints, jordan almonds, bead necklaces, feather boas. You can even wrap a piece of wet oasis foam with plastic and put it in the purse and do a flower arrangement that comes out of it…  Use vintage plates with a pink theme or even pink paper plates.  Tulle is cheap and it is great to decorate with…It comes in many colors.

Use pink tea lights or candles.  Lay a pink carnation or rose over each guest’s plate.

Pink Party Menu

Several companies have come out with “Pink Awareness” teas. 

• Republic of Tea has a green tea with pink grapefruit  and pink peony petals.
• Celestial Seasonings has come out with two pink teas for October.

Or..just use a pink/red  rooibus or herbal tea:

• Teavana Rooibus Rose Garden with pink rose petals, rhubarb, and red currants.
• Adagio Blood Orange Spice Tea
• Teacuppa Rooibus Wild Cherry
• Don’t forget to make your own decorated sugar cubes, pink ribbons would be cute and easy!

Food to Serve at a Pink  Tea

• Rose& Cinnamon Scones
• Plum & Rose Curd
• Vanilla Rose Ice Cream in White Chocolate Cups
• White Silk and Raspberry Tarts
• Blend a block of cream cheese and about 1/4 cup good picante sauce to make an addictive tea sandwich spread.
• Blend cranberry sauce, cream cheese and chopped smoked turkey as a sandwich spread.
• Small cups of cream of tomato soup
• Pink RibbonTruffles

This is only a start..there are so many things you can do.  Use your imagination and have a great time!
