White tea. Adding the tea gives the flavor another depth and it is really good. White tea is very delicate so it doesn’t overpower the flavor of the fruit, in this case honeydew.

For an added intensity try this with Republic of Tea’s Honey Dew White Tea

Honeydew-Lime Iced Tea

6 cups cubed honeydew melon

2 cups water

1/3 cup sugar, more or less to taste

2 tea bags of white tea, or amount of white tea leaves to make 2 cups of strong tea

1/2 cup lime juice

Bring water and sugar just to a boil. stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat.

Add tea or tea bags and allow to steep for 3 to 5 minutes.

Let come to room temperature.

Check to make sure there are no stray seeds on melon. Blend the melon in a blender with the white tea until it is a liquid. Blend in the sugar and lime at low speed, just until sugar dissolves.

Pour over ice and serve with a lime wedge.

Makes about 6 servings depending on size

The other day Cindy left me a comment about a recipe I had not thought of in years. I know her from a homeschooling board that we both were on a long time ago..in fact, when I started posting on that board I only had 5 children, and the 5th one was 2 months old. She is 12 now.
Anyway, that’s one of the blessings of long term friendships, having people remind you of things..

I am pretty sure this is the recipe as I originally had it. This stuff is awesome as written…yeah I know it calls for instant coffee. What [...]
Post from: Kettle and Cup

I am pretty sure this is the recipe as I originally had it. This stuff is awesome as written…yeah I know it calls for instant coffee. What do you expect? The recipe is from the late 50’s /early 60’s I think. If the instant coffee part bothers you then just use a strong brew in the same amount as the water called for. If you do, however, I will not guarantee results.

This is fantastic for the holidays or just about anything. Added bonus..it is one of the few punches that goes with chocolate!

Official HAH Coffee Frappe Punch

1/2 cup instant coffee

2 cups sugar

3 quarts hot water

2 quarts whole milk

1 tablespoon vanilla

1 can chocolate syrup

1 gallon vanilla ice cream (or coffee ice cream)

In a bowl combine the coffee, sugar, and hot water. Mix well and let cool.

Add the milk, vanilla and chocolate syrup. Mix well.

Serve out of a punch bowl and add scoops of ice cream before serving.
About 2 gallons

Sometimes you want something besides sweet tea or lemonade. This is absolutely the best slushy drink in the universe, and you can vary the juices to suit what you have or your own taste.
Sweet Tea Punch
1/2 cup sugar or to taste
2 cups sweet tea
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 c key lime juice
2 1/2 cups orange juice
2 cups pineapple juice
4 cups ginger ale or cream soda (not red)
Freeze the first six ingredients.
At serving time thaw the frozen juice enough to become slushy and add the gingerale or cream soda. Serve garnished with a ripe strawberry.
makes about 24 cups
