I love childrens' books as well. Old fairytales, and rhymes. They actually taught children and/or made them think, without being disturbing or boring.
But if I am having a cup of tea I would say I go for Dostoevsky, or something along similar lines. I am currently devouring some translated German stories and tales (don't remember the title at the moment) printed in 1955, but consisting of several centuries of work. I love the morals and intelligence of old writers. They can make you smile, laugh, cry and sigh all in one short 7 page story. I actually find that new books have a hard time making me smile, and if they do it's very cliche humor. I can't believe how original and interesting people used to be.
haha incase you hadn't noticed I love vintage, antiques, and think EVERYTHING was better "Back then".

anyway, I am enjoying your blog very much! I am going through just about every post! And your house is quite beautiful.

I enjoy middle reader and YA books, especially mysteries. As a substitute teacher, I'm often working with youngsters in this genre. A fifth grade teacher and I were talking at lunch the other day how much we like reading the books for kids...and teaching youngsters about them. Since I'm also a children's author, books for young people particularly interest me. I've started developing blogs for some of my characters. Of course, when I sit down to read, I need a cup of tea beside me.
