Window Shopping

shopping

One of the things I loved about having a tea room was arranging the tea foods on vintage tiered plates.  When the business folded we had to sell all of the beautiful antiques that I I loved, vintage plates among them.

So today, I am shopping for tiered plates.  They are great for setting up a tea, for serving snacks, and for displaying small things. Every once in awhile I find one in a thrift shop…My favorites are the china tiered plates with floral motifs.

I think putting cupcakes or truffles on this scalloped, rose strewn cake plate would make a gorgeous tea table.

A selection of fruit and cheese would be perfect on this lustreware piece.

Currier and Ives AND blue transferware.  Imagine THIS in the midst of a holiday table.

A pale pastel tiered dish that would be perfect for a wedding shower, baby shower or anything spring-y.

Meissen.  Antique. Roses. Yeah. Sigh.

Fenton Silver Crest is so pretty with the clear stripe around the edge. I have a similar cake plate to this teirplate..but I think it is called spanish lace? It has a raised lacy design..Anyway..this is awesome.

I admit to a weakness for Art Deco and this clear glass deco piece is amazing.

Found a cake stand I actually like better than mine. Fenton French..looks very much like the Moonstone pattern..I have not seen this before.  Gorgeous.

This Limoges is awesome. I love the colors. Someday. :)

Pink, scallops and roses.  I am hooked. This one is my favorite..I think.

So, did you see anything you liked?

Oh my! You do have excellent taste! Have you considered making them for yourself? (I’m certain that Suzanne of At Home with The Farmer’s Wife did a tutorial on this not too long ago.)

I hadn’t thought about that Vee, I will have to take a look!

  3. These are certainly lovely. If you ever get to Detroit, go to the DIA and to their French furniture section – they have a simulation where they serve you an 18th century multi-course meal on amazing china and crystal. It’s wonderful.

    Wow Jen! that sounds awesome!

I love all of these things! Tiered serving dishes are my weakness!! Really, anything that sits up on a pedestal.

they are fun to use, aren’t they?

  7. Monica says:

So lovely….they wouldn’t last 5 minutes in this house, but I can admire them from afar….
