If you want to attract hummingbirds to your garden this summer here are 7 plants growing in my garden the hummingbirds seem to love.
One quick tip, hummingbirds love longer narrow flowers they can dip their beaks in.
1. Bergamot or Bee Balm (another name for it is Monarda) is a hummingbird favorite in my garden. These perennials come back year after year, I love it when they’re in full bloom. They look like someone’s having a bad hair day.
2. Petunias are another hummingbird favorite at my house. Since they’re an annual and don’t come back every year, I plant a few new petunia plants just for the Hummers every summer. Since they are an annual they bloom all summer long, providing steady food for the hummingbird population in my yard.
3. Sages and salvias are another favorite in our garden. I have Russian Sage, and Common Sage both growing in my hillside garden, and the hummingbirds love it.
4. Hostas are another one of my favorites that attract the hummingbirds year after year when they’re in bloom.
5. Yucca comes back year after year to provide the hummingbirds in our area their July lunches.
6. I have a comfrey plant right outside my door that always attracts hummers in the spring. Usually the first signs of hummingbirds at our house is when we see them feeding on this plant.
7. Lilies have the long narrow blooms hummingbirds love, and I love seeing them bloom in the garden, so it’s a win-win.
There are many other plants to attract hummingbirds to your yard or garden, these are just a few of my resident favorites.
What are some of the favorite plants for hummingbirds in your garden?
