Fall is a busy time of the year for gardeners (not nearly as hectic as spring). The garden needs to be put to rest for the winter, and the tools cleaned and put away. Here are a few other things to add to your fall to do list.
- Fall is a great time to plant garlic for spring harvest
- Get potted plants you’ve put outdoors ready to be brought back into the house. Spray them for bugs, trim them up, and repot them.
- Collect and dry seeds for next years crop.
- Divide perennials
- Plant trees
- Pile leaves to use for compost, or spring mulch
- Plant a few cool weather vegetables to harvest in late fall, like lettuce, kohlrabi, turnips, radishes, spinach, or chard.
- Plant mums, ornamental kale, and cabbage.
