Mother Earth's Garden

Hosta Delima

hostaMy Mother in-law recently gave me a Hosta plant. I must admit, that even though they are great filler plants for contrast and borders, I have never grown Hosta. I have no idea where to plant it! Do they make good container plants? Or do they spread? How much water or sun does it need? I’ll be looking into finding out more about this little plant and fill you in when I find a suitable place for its new home! If you have any tips for Hosta plants, please don’t hesitate to share!

I have a couple of Hosta varieties in my yard, a dark green one in shade, and a light yellow one in full sun. They do spread, but not extremely vigorously. I’ve also seen Hostas in containers. I like them because they’re low maintenance, although slugs like them too! :)

Hi there! Don’t know if you noticed ours when you were here yesterday, but they do grow quite big! My MIL said too keep them in a shady spot, and that they’re very easy to divide once they’ve gotten bigger. We need to do some dividing!
