Mother Earth's Garden

Plan A Winter Scavenger Hunt

If you don’t cut your garden down in the fall you can find many interesting things there in the winter. Get your family and friends together, get outside and have a winter scavenger hunt. Here is a list of possible items you can include. You may not have everything on the list, or this list may inspire you to think of other things you can include from your own garden, or back yard.

Animal tracks in the snow or mud

A rabbit or squirrel

Nuts

A bird

Winter berries, or rose hips

nest

dried flower or seed head

feather

pine cone

icicle

You can give each group a list to mark off the items as they find them. Set a time limit, or just hunt for fun. A winter scavenger hunt is a great project for the family on a sunny afternoon.

These are good for birthday parties too. My son Cedar is a Feb babe and we had a nature scavenger hunt for his birthday. Great post.
