December Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day

I can’t believe it’s actually December 16th already! I meant to post my December blooms yesterday for Garden Blogger’s Bloom day, then totally zoned out that it could be the 15th already. Christmas is a little over a week away! I still have a couple gifts to buy, looks like I’ll be shopping this weekend.
I do have a couple plants in my house blooming this month, not many. There’s nothing blooming outside any more. We’ve had some freezing cold days in the last couple weeks, with temperatures in the single digits (brrr!).
Here’s what’s blooming at my house in December.

November Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day

We’ve had a mild fall this year, so I can actually say even in my northern garden I still have a few outdoor blooms holding out from the frosts that we’ve had so far.
I still have a few mum blooms peaking out from the leaves, and some green leaves here and there.

There are also just a few Black-Eyed-Susans blooms growing right up against the house. I think it stays a little warmer there, and it’s sheltered by the large eves and the bricks on the house keep things a little warmer there until the weather really gets cold.

I’ve also got …read more

September Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day

September in my garden is always a beautiful time. I don’t have the spectacular blooms I have during some of the summer months, but some of my favorite flowers are still blooming, and I love taking crisp morning strolls through the gardens. The air is so refreshing, and the view is still spectacular.
Here’s what’s blooming in my September garden.
I still have some mini roses climbing up the side of the house.

These morning glories are growing in the neighbor’s corn field. I’m sure he doesn’t appreciate them near as much as I do. They’re blooming in four different colors, …read more

August 2009 Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day

I have quite a bit blooming in my August garden. I really enjoy the blooms this time of year. Most of the flowers I cut and dry are blooming right now.
I showed you some of my miniature roses the other day, so I won’t include them again today.
Most of my hostas are blooming, here’s a blue one with delicate blooms just peaking out from between the leaves.

The hydrangea is looking fabulous!

Yellow yarrow is in full splendor, I’ve been clipping, drying, and pressing some for crafts this fall and winter.

I don’t know what these flowers are. …read more

July Garden Bloggers Bloom Day

I can’t believe we’re halfway through July already! Summer just seems like it is flying by, but then it always does. I have a ton of blooms to share with you this month. I think July is my favorite month in the garden, because it seems like everything is in bloom.
Here’s what’s blooming in my garden this month:
The lilies are going crazy putting on a dazzling hillside show for anyone who stops by.

The tomatoes are going crazy with blooms and tiny tomatoes. I even had my first two tiny red tomatoes over the weekend. Woot!

June 2009 Garden Blogger’s Bloom day

I love Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day during the summer. It inspires me to get out there and capture images of the flowers growing in my garden. I still look back on last years garden images. It’s a great way to remember gardens past.
This month I have one lingering iris still blooming, it’s one of my favorites, and it always blooms a little later than the rest. It likes to keep me in suspense on whether it’s going to bloom or not. Just when I’ve given up hope, there it is! It’s a beautiful ruffled purple and white blooming iris.

May Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day 2009

I’ve had tons of blooms this month, but most didn’t wait for Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day. My fruit trees, and lilac blooms have all come and gone, but my irises are just coming to life with their spectacular blooms.
Here’s what’s blooming in my garden for May Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day 2009.

The white irises are just starting to bloom. They make my hillside garden look like a wedding when they’re in full bloom.

I’m surprised they’re still looking so fabulous after the last two days of rain and wind.

My strawberries are blooming, it makes my mouth water just thinking about strawberries!

Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day April 2009

I can’t believe it’s already mid April! The end of March and first few days of April were warm and sunny for the most part here, but the last week has been rainy and cooler most days.
The touch of warm has me hungry for more days I can get outside and work in the garden.
Here’s what’s blooming in my garden in April.
A little pink hyacinth to brighten dreary days and some tulips just peaking out of their green hiding place.

I have several varieties of daffodils, but several are still thinking about blooming, I wish they would …read more

February Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day

I’m quite late getting this posted this month’s blooms. I had some kind of stomach bug yesterday, and didn’t get much of anything done. So I started the day today behind.
Here’s what’s blooming in my garden windowsills this month.
I got a beautiful rose yesterday for Valentine’s Day. It’s looking cheery on the kitchen table.

I have several geraniums still blooming. They’ve been going strong all winter, and they didn’t let me down for bloom day this month.

Even the scented geraniums have gotten in on the act. I love their tiny delicate blooms.

I even have an impatien and a begonia still blooming …read more
