The First Ripe Tomatoes

I’m finally getting a few ripe cherry tomatoes in my garden. They’re an heirloom yellow variety but they’re delicious. There’s nothing better than a ripe tomato fresh from the garden. You can taste the sunshine in every bite.
Most of my tomatoes are still green, but they’re getting there. I should have several more varieties ripe by the end of the week.
Sorry I only got a photo of a few of the cherry tomatoes, the rest were eaten before I could get the camera out.
These little tomatoes are wonderful on salads, and for a mid afternoon snack, they don’t last long around our house.

I enjoyed reading your post on heirloom tomatoes. It would be fascinating to find out exactly how far back the history of this variety of tomato goes. They not only add beauty to your garden but they are also definitely a lot tastier than the store bought tomatoes. I think this is because the store bought tomatoes are bred to be disease resistant and are treated in some way to improve shelf life because they are usually delivered from somewhere at a great distance.
That is also a really nice picture of your yellow heirloom tomatoes. Thank you for sharing.
