Should the bride and groom exchange gifts?

When my sister got married two years ago, she gave her husband-to-be a wedding gift. I thought it was weird at first as my Husband and I didn’t really do that at our own wedding until I shared this concept with my friends and they told me that they have exchanged wedding gifts with their husband-to-be. Most of them bought each other matching his and hers wrist watches.

If you are unsure about this, there is no known practice to do this so really, it is up to you if you want to give your spouse-to-be a present on your wedding day. If you are saving and wishing to cut costs, this is an expense you can do without.

Tip: Eat something before your Wedding

June 29, 2009 by Christine Gooding

On the day of your wedding, there’ll be a lot of preparations. Believe me, no matter how simple your wedding is, people will be fussing over you so as a bride, there will be lots to do — getting your hair done, face made up, photos to be taken, video to be done…so like I said…a lot of things. And as a bride busy to be the blushing and blooming bride that she is, you may forget to eat.

If you’re the groom, you may think you don’t need to prepare much and in your excitement, you may forget to eat.

If you’re a member of the wedding entourage, you may forget to eat as well with all the things you have to remember.

Believe me, it is imperative that you eat before the wedding. If not, this can happen to you:

Wedding Dress Disaster for Pregnant Women

June 29, 2009 by Christine Gooding

It’s fine to get married while pregnant but please I hope you don’t carve a hole in your wedding gown to show off your tummy. It is uncool and distracting.

Please I beg of you, don’t do it like what this woman did. I suppose to each her own but I can’t imagine attending a wedding with the very much pregnant bride wearing this gown.

Cupcakes as Wedding Centerpieces

Now that cupcakes are a mega trend at weddings, you think that the only way to use wedding cupcakes is as a the wedding cake or as a wedding favor. Who would’ve thought you can use wedding cupcakes as wedding centerpieces?

Wedding Song Idea: “Love of my Life”

June 28, 2009 by Christine Gooding

I was watching my daily fix of YouTube videos when I came across this song “Love of My Life” by indie artist, Darla Day. I must say, it’s such a heartwarming song. You can use it as the bridal march song or the song for your wedding dance. If you sing, you can also sing this to your spouse-to-be as a surprise number at the wedding reception. If you’re the groom and you can sing, you can surprise your bride by singing this song as she walks down the aisle.

“Love of My Life”
words by Darla Day
music by Mark Phillips
duet sung by Darla & Chad Day

I love you, the love of my life
I need you, our love is right
I’ve found the one that my soul loves
No other love means so much

I prayed to my God for a heart to keep
He gave me the one, He knew my needs
Over and over this love is sweet
I recognize the joy that makes our love complete
God gave you to me

You’re the one I prayed for long ago
Fearless trust I never thought I’d know
I’ve found the answer to my dreams
My eyes were opened to love’s mystery

I prayed to my God for a heart to keep
He gave me the one, He knew my needs
Over and over this love is sweet
I recognize the joy that makes our love complete
God gave you to me

The love of my life…

I love you, the love of my life
I need you, our love is right
I’ve found the one that my soul loves
No other heart gives so much
God gave you to me

You’re the one I love
You are the love of my life

What’s your budget for Wedding Favors?

June 28, 2009 by Christine Gooding

One of our readers asks what’s the appropriate budget for wedding favors? I spent around $200 for 100 guests. We had about 50 wedding favors done for $200. Not too bad I think as it cost us about $4 per wedding favor.

Yes, we didn’t spend much on our wedding favors. This budget doesn’t cover the gifts we gave to our principal sponsors and bridal party.

There are wedding favors that do sell $4 or less:

What about you? How much did you spend on wedding favors?

Wedding Favor Idea: Incense Gift Set

June 28, 2009 by Christine Gooding

A Green Tea Incense Gift Set is a wedding favor you might consider giving or if it’s too expensive for you, you might consider giving this to your bridal party.

If I’m the one given this, I’d appreciate it as I like the smell of incense. This is also perfect if you’re having a zen, oriental or asian wedding theme. Very appropriate!
