Go Classic ~ Black And White Wedding Cakes

Black and white is always in for weddings. It’s the classic wedding combination. You can dress it up or down. Add another accent color like silver, red, or green. Black and white by itself makes a wedding feel elegant and sophisticated.

I love the scroll work on this white with black cake, and the black bow gives it an elegant touch, and can tie it in with your bridesmaids dresses if you use the right fabric.

Here’s another black and white cake with lots of detail. This cake would be beautiful for a fall wedding with the leaves.

This black and white layered cake is very elegant. The black and white ribbons make it even more formal. Even though it’s very monochromatic you could easily use this cake for a spring wedding with the flowers. Maybe throw in some bright accent colors in your wedding planning to brighten things up.

Setting The Style For Your Wedding

One of the most important decisions you’ll make for your wedding is your wedding style. There are many things that will go into picking your wedding style. Some of the factors you should consider include:

Your budget is a big part of your wedding style. You can’t go for over the top glamorous and luxury if you have a tight budget, you have to be realistic.
Your venue or wedding location is a very important part of your wedding style. If you have an elegant or formal setting you should go for a more formal wedding style. If you’re getting married in the back yard you may want to create a cozy casual style.
Your personal style is another big factor in determining your wedding style. If you’re a casual easygoing person, you may want to keep your wedding along those same lines.

When you get married you want to let your personal style show through into your wedding. Work out a style based on the points above and let it flow through the rest of your wedding plans.

Give Newlyweds A Portion Of Their Honeymoon

Pueblo Bonito Oceanfront Resorts and Spas, a collection of six luxury resorts located throughout Mexico (Los Cabos and Mazatlan), has a novel idea for newlyweds who don’t really need the standard wedding gifts, like toasters or blenders.

The luxury resort offers a wedding registry service in which friends and family are able to give the newlywed couple portions of their honeymoon or destination wedding as wedding gifts. Instead of a toaster, the new couple will receive a romantic dinner on the beach or an upgrade to a honeymoon suite.

Pueblo Bonito’s honeymoon gift registry allows couples to register their entire honeymoon or destination wedding online. The future bride and groom can choose from a list of gift ideas that includes any of the six Pueblo Bonito resorts. The gifts they can register for include spa treatments, food and beverage, room upgrades, rounds of golf, day trips and excursions.

All of the amenities that may be purchased on-site at any of the Pueblo Bonito Resorts can be registered for as a wedding gift. Items that are not listed can be added to the personalized registry by using the “Create Your Own Wizard.” Through the registry, newlyweds also receive a complimentary wedding website to share with friends and family, announcement cards, a guest message board, bridal shower games and gift announcement cards.

I think it’s a wonderful idea for brides and grooms that are already set up with a household and don’t really need the standard wedding gifts. Now why didn’t they have something like this when we got married?

How Do You Choose A Wedding Color?

Choosing the colors for your wedding can be one of the most difficult decisions you make, or one of the easiest. Some brides just know what color they’re going to pick. Maybe you have a color that you love, or that you’ve dreamed of having for your wedding color all your life.

If you’re not sure what colors to incorporate into your wedding take a look around you for the latest wedding color trends, or look at the season your wedding will be held in and take some inspiration from the colors of the season.

Another thing you might consider is your wedding venue. You may have to go with colors that compliment the colors of your reception or wedding location.

It may take a visit to a caterer or a bridal boutique to look at brides maids dresses, or table linens to decide what color will work the best for your style and tastes.

When you find the color that’s perfect for your wedding you’ll know it.

Winter Wedding Snowflake Invitations

I’ve had a winter wedding theme going on the last couple weeks, so I thought I’d keep going with that today. Here are a few of the winter wedding ideas I’ve posted so far:

The first one has a delicate sheer look that makes you think of winter and snow. There’s even a delicate snowflake printed in the sheer window on the front of the card.

My favorite is this embossed snowflake card. There’s a rhinestone right in the center of the snowflake.

I’ve had The Pocket Idiot’s Guide To Wedding Etiquette sitting in my review pile for several months now. I figured since I’m writing about weddings here at Our One Heart, now I really need to get the review done!

Winter Wedding Place Card Ideas

I love to do something fun for place cards, so I thought I’d take a look and see what winter wedding place card ideas, to go with the winter white wedding ideas I posted the other day.

First up I found these really cute snowflake wedding place cards from Timeless Paper at Etsy. I love the die cut details, and the idea of hooking it onto the glass, very elegant and a little different.

These handmade pop-up white bird placecards from PetrinaCaseStudio are also fabulous, and a very unique idea with a little extra dimension.

Or get back to nature with these snowy pine cone winter wedding place cards from ARemarkYouMade. These would be really cute for a December wedding.

One of my favorites is this chic snowflake printed place card from TheGrouchyChickPea. I love all the intricate details in the snowflake.
