Our One Heart

How do you break a wedding engagement?

**STICKY: Have you checked out Our One Heart’s latest contest?**

Hispanic woman reacting to man giving her engagement ring

I’ve been talking to a friend of mine whose wedding engagement just broken off….for the second time. The first time, her fiance backed out and 3 years later, in another relationship, she backed out. I truly admire this person of mine for standing in what she believed in especially after her first wedding engagement experience.

This is not just the case of engagements being broken off a month after it was announced. For both occasions, my friend and her fiance/s had only a month to go till their big day before they decided to call off the wedding.

My friend has her reasons for these 2 sad events and I am not keen to divulge them but what I am keen to know is how do you break off an engagement? Is there a ‘proper’ way to break off a promise? I know divorces abound but still, after you’ve sent all the wedding invites, ordered your gown, paid your wedding suppliers…I want to know how you break it off?

This post was also triggered by the news of Nicolette Sheridan and Michael Bolton breaking off their engagement. How sad.

Anyone care to share their experience?
