I just heard a very sad news over the radio the other day. A bride killed on a car accident ON HER WAY HOME from the wedding reception.
How sad is that?
We know that at wedding receptions, we all drink and get merry. Please make sure you have a sober driver to drive you back to your home, hotel or whatever. If the driver is sober, please make sure he or she is not into dangerous speed driving!
No one is immortal and anyone can be taken by death…even at the happiest moment of their lives.
My heart goes out to her husband who is now a widower, only a few hours after getting married
Police have named the 26-year-old bride who was killed in a car crash on the way home from her wedding reception.
An Auckland City police spokeswoman said Yan Liu, a Chinese national who worked at an early childcare centre, had been living in New Zealand for three years.
Police said the 26-year-old woman died after the BMW car she was a passenger in hit a traffic island.
The accident happened in Mt Wellington, Auckland, about 11pm last night.
Police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said the woman was married yesterday and was on her way home from the wedding reception.
“The deceased suffered severe head injuries. Three other occupants have all been taken to hospital and have varying injuries although none was expected to get any worse,” Ms Hegarty said.
The car hit the traffic island and light standard at the intersection of Carbine Rd and the South Eastern Highway, in Mt Wellington.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the accident. Speed is thought to have been a factor.
