A lovely wedding is nice, but so is having some friends left afterward.
Monday Spotlight: Let’s Discuss: Do we need wedding planners?

I recently started poll asking people to vote on whether we need wedding planners. In these hard times, some believe that paying for a wedding planner is an expense that engaged couples can get away with.
So far, we have 14 votes with 9 saying that it is an expense we don’t need.
Since I started that poll, I’d heard from a couple of readers. They said:
Linda: I voted Yes, but I don’t believe it has to be an expense. I strongly believe you need someone put in charge of planning and running everything, but my sister-in-law did all that for me without charging me for her services. Obviously having someone so close doing all the planning allowed me to be a huge part of it, but it also took away a lot of the stress. I greatly appreciated her help because it just made the big day that much better by taking the stress away. Family is always willing to help, so let them! I gave gifts to everyone that helped me out.
StephanieinCA: If a wedding planner is what you need to keep from turning into the bride from hell, then I say it’s well worth the expense.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? I’d love to hear from the others out there.
If you’re a wedding planner reading this, I’d like to get your side too. Why should engaged couples get you to help them plan their wedding.
I hired a wedding planner (well, an on-the-day wedding coordinator) for my wedding in 2001 but life wasn’t financially hard then.
Let’s get the discussion goin’!

This is also a dilemma of mine…
hi notsquare — why is it a dilemma of yours? you’re not sure if you should get a wedding planner or not?
i got one and i personally think that everyone should get one.
this is a good topic to blog
My sister got married two summers ago and did the entire thing herself and it was beautiful! Of course not everyone is capable or willing to plan their own wedding however I think it is all part of the fun, and makes the wedding more to do with you. There are always friends and family that would be willing to help however it does require a LOT of your time.
