I had a money dance. It was completely separate from the first dance and i danced with a bridal handbag instead of having everyone pin money on me. When my husband told me he wanted to do a money dance to help with spending money for Hawaii, I was very skeptical. I too thought it was distasteful. However, now that I’ve had one, I would highly recommend a money dance because it gives the bride and groom a chance to dance with all the guests and say, “Thanks” to everyone in person. To be honest, I think people enjoy knowing the fact that they helped out the new couple even in a small way. Even the kids love it!

I think its quite tacky… people already have given a gift why ask for more. I have seen a alternate of offering jello shots for a dollar along with the dance. But I still feel asking for more is tacky.

This is the first time I’ve heard of this. I wouldn’t have done it anyway, heck, we didn’t have any dancing at our wedding.

I wouldn’t do it, but I have been to alot of weddings where the bride goes around with a bag/purse and collects money. I thought it was an Italian thing. Not quite sure what that is but I have seen it alot.

I have been to several weddings that did a money dance, but we didn’t do it at ours. I danced with my friends and family for free!

I’ve been to weddings where they do a “dollar dance.” It’s very odd. Didn’t do it at mine.
