If you are thinking of having a Pride and Prejudice wedding theme and intending to get married at Lyme Park where the movie was filmed then you might be disappointed! It seems that this is not to be. Sorry ladies (and gents!)
BRIDES dreaming of walking in the footsteps of romantic hero Mr Darcy could be in for a disappointment. A plan to increase the number of weddings at the stately home where Pride and Prejudice was filmed with Darcy’s famous swimming scene has been rejected. The National Trust wanted to put a temporary wedding marquee large enough for 120 guests in the courtyard of the 19th century stable block of Lyme Park, near Disley, Stockport, for five years. Its aim was to raise money to maintain the Grade 2 listed building, currently used for a workshop and offices. But the Peak District National Park Authority rejected the marquee because it would be out of keeping with the historic setting and would create a new business in the open countryside.
