On Serving Alcohol on Your Wedding Day

There’s a sentiment here raised by one of our Our One Heart readers, Rosa on whether to serve alcohol at their wedding or not:
Im having a wedding soon. And the biggest issue between my fiance and I is alcohol. We have a lot of people from our church attending and alot of family members that dont like alcohol period for religious reasons. And then there is my mother. I feel as if she dissaproves. However my fiance and I enjoy A little alcohol as well as most of our friends and all of his family. I dont want to offend anyone but this is my only wedding day…

IMHO, since it is your wedding, your wishes should prevail over everyone else’s. Yes, your church-going guests might be offended if you serve alcohol BUT they should respect others who wish to indulge in alcohol. After all, they are guests at a wedding and the occasion is not the right time to push one’s opinion against alcohol.
I did mention that should Rosa opt to acquisce to her mother or their church-going relatives’ desire not to serve alcohol, you can view the Q&A I posted regarding serving no alcohol at your wedding reception.
What about you? What would you do if you were in Rosa’s shoes?
