Q&A: Is it OK to wear Black to a Wedding

I found this Q&A at Independent UK where Martha Arthur answers questions from readers and one of the questions asked was:

Q: Is it OK to wear black to a wedding? Toni

A. It is much easier to get away with black at a winter wedding (I take it you are a guest, Toni?) especially if it is velvet/tulle/ a swishy fabric and if you add flashy accessories (or a nice tartan, perchance? Not Black Watch). For a summer wedding, black is only acceptable if you are a waiter, waitress or Goth.

This is a funny answer but so true. Can you imagine wearing black in the summer especially if it’s a morning or a day wedding. I haven’t really attended a wedding in Asia where black is as acceptable. Not that much especially if you have the conservative elders attending the wedding too. Black in Asian weddings are a no-no!
