]]> I am naturally quite a shy person, and I was speaking to one of my friends who is getting married next month and was encouraged by her approach. She too is shy, her “Big Day” is about vows, joining together with the person she loves unconditionally – it is not about being the centre of attention for the day. ringsinpetals.jpg

She talked to her prospective husband and decided to not follow all the traditions. No speeches, no first dance, etc anything that would make her feel uncomfortable. They agree that the day should be one that they love, that they remember with happiness. I found this refreshing as often we do what we think we should do, rather than what makes us happy.

If there is something that you are dreading then talk it through and see if you can change the format to one that you will enjoy. This is your day!

I love this idea as any girl loves jewellery and what a wonderful way of providing an ongoing memory for years to come. The ones that I saw made were a zircon/silver and a straight replica of the brides ring – beautiful.

]]> I was honoured to be the Chief Bridesmaid at my sisters wedding, and wanted to help my sister have the best day possible. We got up early in the morning, put the music on and got ready. We had a ball, everything was going so well. Then I decided that I had to go to the toilet before the car arrived…aaagh, that’s when disaster struck. I totally forgot about the sash on the dress, and of course it disappeared down the toilet as I flushed it! The swirl of the water then caused the sash to rip away from the dress…I shouted for my sister who was having a quick glass of wine to come and confusedandmad.jpghelp me. As she came into the bathroom she stood on one of the cats and in avoiding further feline screeching, managed to throw the glass of wine down the front of my dress!

I looked a complete mess…ripped dress, only a strip of a sash and a huge red wine stain. My sister who usually is not the most forgiving of people, started to laugh. I am not sure if it was from nerves or what, but I then started to…and I asked her what I was going to do. She looked and said “Perfect! I was always worried about you upstaging me, now there is no way the Bride is not going to be the belle of the ball” There was no time to get changed so I just got in the car and had the embarassment for the rest of the day….at least my sister looked wonderful and the happiest person alive!

Anyone out there who has been more embarassed than me?
