Ever had family or friends who cannot make the wedding well here is an idea.
webcastmywedding broadcasts weddings to a couple’s friends and family unable to come over from (or to) far flung places. Customers need a video camera, laptop, and high speed online access. The company then charges USD 395 for setting up a live stream of the event, support for up to 25 simultaneous viewers (who are sent a url and password), and an on-demand archive of the wedding for 10 days.
Might be a great idea for any ill guests as well.

In olden days in Britain a green wedding dress was considered unlucky unless you were Irish as it implied promiscuity i.e. she had been rolling about in the fields!

It was once a custom in France for a bride to step on an egg before crossing the threshold of their new home.

An old folk custom involved taking onions and writing each suitors name on each one. All the onions were put in a cold storeroom with the first onion to grow sprouts determing the man you should marry!

An old Ethopian tradition requires the bride to remove jewellery to be removed after the wedding, with its likeness then tattoed on her skin.

I am thinking that as strange as modern life seems to be at times, there are some benefits!

The groom chose a velvet suit. The married at Karlstein Castle and it snowed making it a winter wonderland. Prague is a woderfully romantic city and a great choice for a wedding to remember.

Yvonne Leonard and Colin Petford married in an ice bar in Stockholm which is 200km inside the Artic circle. The Ice Hotel is built from frozen blocks of ice from the nearby river and each year is redesigned. After their ceremony they drank vodka from glasses which had been carved from ice as well! The wedding suite was a bed made of ice with lovely thick sleeping bags, and there was an opening in the ceiling to watch the sky….now that has to be romantic.

Mum: I never really enjoyed Christmas, being the eldest in the family it meant that Christmas to me was always working hard. This way I had a Christmas when I could enjoy it, and others were helping me.

The marriage of nine dogs to nine bitches to promote canine culture was expected to take place on Sunday in the northwestern town of Jaipur, the Times of India reported.

But the wedding which, according to Hindu rituals involves sitting in front of a sacred fire and exchanging flower garlands, was cancelled after groups including People for Animals (PFA) criticised the event. The marriage would also have included a procession and a huge feast with a special dance party. Event management company B Positive and the Pink City Canine Club were organising the spectacle”

Have you been to a canine wedding – would love to hear your story!

“Whether we’re talking about a personal relationship or a relationship with one’s work or art, commitment is a matter of how we look at things.

I subscribe to the wonderful Lou Tice newsletter and today I received this, which I thoughT was worth sharing with anyone planning an engagement or a wedding during this seasonal time.

“Whether we’re talking about a personal relationship or a relationship with one’s work or art, commitment is a matter of how we look at things. It means making a choice and giving ourselves time to fully involve ourselves with whatever that choice is. If you are deeply committed to another person, the time you spend with him or her will be important to you, both in quantity and quality. Commitment means accepting your own and your partner’s limitations without resentment. However, it also means seeing past those limitations and appreciating each other’s unique qualities, talents and skills. Commitment also means being willing to settle for nothing less than authentic response, and being open to whatever that response may be. Perhaps more than anything else, it means a willingness to give the best we have without reservation – paying complete attention, giving and receiving in full measure, searching our souls for the truth, sharing that truth when we find it, and creating a welcoming and open environment for self-discovery.

When we are committed to another, their growth is as important to us as our own. In this climate, both personal growth and the growth of the relationship can do nothing but flourish.”
