I know, I know, there’s a GFC (Global Financial Crisis — can you believe it? There’s even an acronym for the crisis the world is going through now) so we must find ways to save on anything we could.
While Australian couples preparing for their wedding seem to be living in a bubble where recession does not exist in their vocabulary, other couples around the world are I’m sure tightening their belts.
So here I present to you wedding gowns that cost less than US$1,000:

Scala bridal destination wedding beaded gown cut out back — another vintage-y look. What do you think? Lovely isn’t it? It’s only $318!

White Matte Jersey Wedding Gown - only cost $425

This is my parents at their wedding in June 1968. Can you see how happy they are to be married….LOL!
Not sure why they weren’t smiling on this photo. Perhaps back then, smiling on your wedding day is not the in thing to do…who knows? Kidding!
I love my Mom’s wedding gown. It will be classified as vintage now I suppose. I love it because it’s so simple et elegant.
I wonder how much it’d sell on eBay?
Naah, got no plans of selling it but I thought of sharing it here in the hopes of providing more ideas to those planning a vintage wedding.
Did you notice the white on white going on with my Mom’s wedding outfit and her choice of flowers? Totally cool!
And the Boutonniere that my Dad’s wearing on his lapel? Something you can use for the Groom in a vintage wedding too

Get inspired by this lovely wedding gown of Princess Josephine-Charlotte of Belgium. Lovely, lovely fairy tale type of wedding gown.
I wonder if she wore a petticoat for this. I think she did!
Eco-Friendly Wedding Idea: Re-using Vintage Wedding Dresses

Vintage wedding dresses are the ‘in thing’ at the moment but here’s one thing you can do if you want to go ‘truly vintage’ — rather than buying a faux vintage wedding gown, why not dig up your mother (or even your grandmother’s!) wedding gown.
There are many ways you can incorporate your mother’s (or auntie’s or nana’s) wedding gown into your own wedding dress.
Wendy Davidson has some great sources of tips to recycling or re-using second-hand wedding gowns!
Most earth-friendly guru’s will agree that when it comes to green living one of the very best ways to do it is to recycle, recycle and recycle. You wouldn’t think this could be applicable to a wedding dress, no matter how special an old gown might be. All the best will in the world might not be able to do something with your mother’s 1960’s wedding dress, or even the Flapper gown your great-grandmother wore.
Time can ravage fabrics and render them absolutely useless. But, rather than sighing regretfully and then putting that special family dress aside, take it to someone who specialises in restoring old gowns. In England, that someone is Heirloom Couture.

Are you having a vintage wedding theme or simply in love with the vintage fashion? If so, you’d fall in love wit Jacqueline Kenney’s wedding dress. The dress she wore when she married (obviously) John F. Kennedy.
It must have been a magical moment for the two of them getting married. So sad that their fairy tale life had to end so tragically.
Sigh.
