In February of this year, I raised a question on what you’d do if the wedding was cancelled. Would you return the gifts or not. I received several feedback on this question and one of them was from an anonymous reader. She asks:
I think the gifts should be returned. I personally spent close to $700.00 on a friend’s wedding gifts. When the wedding was called off, the couple sold many of the gifts. They split the remaining gifts and cash. Neither of them are in any financial hardship.
Here is a question from the other side, how do you approach a …read more

If there’s anything that you should not do, it is putting a disclaimer or a note at the bottom of your wedding invitation like this:
“The favor of your gift is declined, only monetary gifts accepted.”
Etiquette Hell reacted this way:
Those words are like waving a red flag in front of a bull. We are compelled to act upon those words in ways the bride and groom never envisioned or intended. You want money as a gift? We’ll give you money…our way. Yes, we might give money….in a foreign denomination forcing the recipient to expend time and energy …read more

A post in 2005 sparked comments from readers regarding the crassness or practicality of requesting for cash as wedding pressies.

For the technological minded here is a great gift and one that can unify geeks and non-geeks alike, as it is easy to use. Engadget report that Westinghouse at the CES show have announced its five new frames that range from a 5.6-inch model ($100) to a 14.1-inch model ($400). Easy to use and just need a USB cable – think even I could manage to do this!
I think this would be a great gift for an engagement – take a photo at the event and put it on ready for when your partner gets home. It would be also a great …read more

A great idea to recognise your happy event and also the part that the bridesmaids play in making the day special, is to give them a silver replica of the brides wedding ring with an inscription inside the ring.
I love this idea as any girl loves jewellery and what a wonderful way of providing an ongoing memory for years to come. The ones that I saw made were a zircon/silver and a straight replica of the brides ring – beautiful.

Is your best friend, sister or daughter announced her recent wedding engagement and you feel like giving her something to mark this special occasion?
Why not give her a wedding journal? I had one given to me as a pre-wedding present and I wrote down all my thoughts about the wedding (that I can’t share with you guys, unfortunately!). I also scribbled a lot of my wedding ideas in that journal and it’s so good to look back and read what I have written about all those years ago!
You can choose to give her this:
Bow-Tied Journal. Silver Stamping Journal.
or this:
