Get a photographer you know you can be comfortable with. The photographer’s skill or “eye” can only go so far as the subject and the more relaxed you are, the higher the chance of getting a better set of proofs (a collection of photos taken during the event, in this case your wedding) you can choose from. It’s also important that you see that the photographer actually likes the idea of photographing you.

By reputation and experience, a photographer can hike up their rates so it can be a good idea to explore the option of utilizing the talents of a friend who’s just starting out. At our wedding in 2001, we had our share of wedding crashers. There were 4 cousins of mine who brought along their boyfriends to the wedding (even though their boyfriends were not invited). What did I do? Well, while I did notice that these relatives of mine brought dates without letting me know (my wedding planner found seats for these extra guests but I didn’t bother to know how), I didn’t allow it to ruin my big day. I did mention it to my Mom days after the wedding why they did that. I was still gracious to them though. I told myself nothing can ruin my special day. In the big scheme of things, these are just little worries that need not create more wrinkles for me!

If it was my Husband’s ex-wife who showed up un-invited at the wedding then that’s a different story. I’d probably get her escorted out the door LOL

Nothing beats planning ahead though. It’s easier to instruct family members ahead of time not to bring children or dates (when they’re not specifically invited) but there are those who don’t listen and as I said, so as not to ruin your special day, it is best to let others deal with it so you don’t get stressed about having to re-organize the seating arrangements and all. I am sure your wedding planner (if she/he is any good) or your mom will deal with this.

Let me count the ways why I love cupcakes:

• I love that each guest can take a piece of your wedding and enjoy it too!
• I love that you don’t have to slice and package each cake slice for your guests to take home as cupcakes come in its paper wrapper! At our wedding, because our guests were so full from all the food we plied them with, they each took a cupcake home to enjoy. We didn’t have to wrap them in foil for them or anything. It’s a great wedding takeaway souvenir!
• I love that cupcakes allow you to have more flavours than one. We had various cupcake flavours for everyone to choose from. Unlike when it’s one big cake, you are at the mercy of the choice of the couple!

Unfortunately, Hubby said no and I wasn’t really that keen to be worrying about what I looked like for the TV cameras so I suppose I’m glad that we didn’t get TV coverage

Anyhoo, the point of this is really to give the guys (and the gals!) an idea out there on what you can do to make your wedding proposal…well, special. Why not talk to your local TV station and ask if you can propose to your girlfriend (or boyfriend) at one of their shows. Doing this takes a lot of guts though…what if your partner says no to your proposal….VERY embarrassing!

However if you’re sure that she (or he!) will say yes then go for it, I say! Would be a perfect video clip to show on your wedding day

I don’t want to miss any of the action at a wedding or a bachelorette party I go to so I do keep my drinking in check. However, if there are times you can’t help getting drunk then you would need some hangover cures!

With or without these tough economic crisis, I do believe that you can still have the wedding of  your dreams without starting your married life in debt. This we were able to have at our own wedding. We didn’t have a big wedding but I felt that our wedding was luxurious and elegant

What we did was trim down our guest list. We only invited 100 of our closest family and friends. You might say that 100 is a big guest list but in Asian standards, this is quite intimate. Having fewer guests meant we were able to afford top of the line wedding invitations, more elaborate wedding favors, flower arrangements and more expensive wines and a gourmet menu to die for Because we only had 10 tables at the reception, we were able to afford an elaborate fruit and flower arrangement as a centerpiece for each table. Everyone thought that our wedding was ‘expensive’ but truth be told, it wasn’t.

Having a small guest list also allowed us to afford a honeymoon that we wanted because we had a budget left-over for a trip for us to enjoy and enjoy we did. Until now, we still talk about our honeymoon where we visited several islands in the Philippines.
