Planning a wedding on Thanksgiving holiday? I can’t see why you shouldn’t! Your family will be in town and I am sure most of your childhood friends will be home, too. At any rate, there are are some great ideas for a Thanksgiving Wedding!
Some ideas for you after the jump!
Invitations:
Make sure to send save the date cards as soon as you know since it is a holiday. Off white or ivory invitations embossed with pressed autumn leaves are a beautiful touch, you can also use acorns, fall flowers, or seasonal fruit.
Centerpieces:
Carve out pumpkins and put votive candles inside, or use leaf or pumpkin shaped floating candles in a bowl placed on a autumn decorated plate, or lay out seasonal fruits sprayed with a golden sparkle on gold plates with votive candles randomly placed on top.
Decorations:
Use cornucopias with fall flowers or seasonal fruits, pumpkins, gourds and corn stalks throughout the room.
Colors:
Autumn colors: Rust, Burgundy, Brown, Tan, Gold, Orange, Yellow, cranberry, wine, hunter green.
Attire:
Brides dress- off white or cream with leafy embroidery or gold beading and a shawl or wrap since the weather may be chilly
Bridesmaids- fall colors in warm material/long sleeves for the cool weather
Groom & groomsmen: Tan, beige, or brown with ties matching the bridesmaids fall color dresses.
Flowers:
Chrysanthemums, roses, daisies, dahlias, lilies, yarrow, orchids, hydrangeas, sunflowers, baby breath, fall leaves, tallow berries, dried wheat.
Food:
Do NOT serve a traditional Turkey dinner if your wedding is the weekend right after Thanksgiving. Not many people will want to eat more turkey so soon after. Instead, serve a marinated pork roast, mashed potatoes, honey glazed butternut squash, baby carrots, green beans, soup in a hollowed pumpkin, warm apple cider, pumpkin pie or apple pie
Cake:
pumpkin flavored, chocolate, or spice
Favors:
candy or caramel apples

You gave some great advice with sending out save the date cards to let your guests know that you are planning your wedding around a holiday. This ensures that more of your guests will be able to respond in a positive manner.
Fall is a great time of year to get married, the colors are wonderful and it is usually a cheaper alternative than getting married in the summer months.
