If you’re looking to have a more environment-friendly wedding, the best way to get started is to go through each item in your wedding checklist and see what green alternatives you can do.
Diamonds – It is good to know that while diamonds are a girl’s best friend, it is also considered ‘green’. See? Diamond engagement and wedding rings for eco-friendliness? check
Wedding Ceremony & Venue – Go local. Having a destination wedding is obviously not being environment-friendly as it involves flying by plane. If you also choose the locations of the ceremony and venue close to where the majority of your guests are, it also reduces carbon emissions from the use of vehicle transport.
The Gift List – there are a lot of green or eco stores out there where you can register your bridal registry.
The dress – perfect way to be green is to recycle? Why not find a second-hand wedding dress. Good for the earth and good for your budget too.
Wedding invitations, place card holders, thank you cards – You can either make or order your own cards using recycled paper.
Food – try sourcing your food from local produce
Flowers – again, try sourcing your flowers locally.
Favors – you can either choose to have locally produced sweets on recycled carton or giving your guests a plant or seedling. These are environment-friendly options.
The honeymoon – again, if you really want to be ‘green’ then flying to your honeymoon destination is not eco-friendly. Why not re-discover what you have in your region so you don’t have to fly for your honeymoon?
