In late December, I started a poll on the need for a wedding planner, as of today, it seems that majority of our reader think it’s an expense that we don’t need.
Is this outcome due to the effect of recession on people that impact the way they decide on what to spend on?

Seriously, is there a need for wedding planners? I am sure our parents survived and had gorgeous and memorable weddings without the assistance of professional wedding planners so who’s to say we need one now?
Is it because weddings nowadays are more complicated?

I love my maiden name. Growing up in conservative Philippines, I had unconventional thoughts about keeping my Dad’s name even after I get married. Such thoughts were not welcome in the world I grew up in.

I ran a poll in September on whether the couples of today would opt for an open marriage. I was pleasantly suprised to find that in this day and age, couples still hold to the value of marriage.
We had a majority of our readers vote that they do not want an open marriage.

Zosia Bielski of the National Post wrote an interesting article on open marriages and their own rules of engagement. I have been brought up in a conservative Catholic family and while my values have been opened to far more liberal views than that of my parents and grandparents, there are limits to my liberalism.

I’m not surprised that in the poll that I run, “My Best Friend’s Wedding” is the most popular wedding movie among our readers. My Best Friend’s Wedding had 44 votes out of 155.
This is followed by “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” with 38 votes closely followed by “The Wedding Planner” with 37 votes.
