New Age Bride: Princess for a Day

Are you a new age bride? I’m talking about wearing coronets, tiaras, feathers, or anything but a veil.

The idea of ditching the veil and keeping a different ornament on your hair during your wedding came about when I found a variety of options you can use to adorn your wedding hairstyle:

Diamond hair band
Beaded coronets
Feathered hair slides
Feathered tiaras
Diamond hair forks
Crystal combs
Fabric flower hair pins

These hair ornaments will go perfectly for brides who like to keep things a little more simple by doing away with veils. The bride can even choose to have her bridesmaids to wear something …read more

Wedding Fashion: Go Barefoot!

A friend and I got into talking about beach weddings. We were gushing over the romance and bohemian flair of exchanging vows by the sea. I’m talking about holding the ceremony on the beach, sand and all. Most would opt for a location that has a view of the beach or sea and not exactly setting things up on beach itself. There’s a difference.
This led us to consider the pro’s and con’s because no matter how gorgeous the setting is, the need to be practical weighs more. But I’d like to go into one item which presented a novel wedding …read more

I think you can say I still haven’t had enough of how beautifully elegant Grace Kelly looked on her big day because, here I am, talking about it yet again.

Wedding Fashion: Short Wedding Dress

Wedding dresses are, by tradition, made long. It’s more formal, elegant and romantic. But we have to acknowledge the fact that the length may not be flattering to all brides. On the other hand, the idea of cutting the hemline short wouldn’t be as special as wearing a long dress on your wedding day. It’s quite understandable that it’ll pose as a big dilemma for the bride.
How can one choose?

For this bride, she opted to go for a short wedding dress simply because it flattered her most. Makes sense, really. Wouldn’t a bride want to wear …read more

Come Rain or Shine, We Wed

Come Rain or Shine, We Wed

Outdoor weddings are gorgeous. You don’t need to spend on elaborate decorations since having nature as a backdrop is more than enough. The only thing to worry about is the weather.
Tents are usually first on the list under the contingency plan. That is if the desired date for the wedding would fall during rainy season or for some strange bad luck, a hurricane would hit. Not that we’re all hoping that the latter would happen, I guess, I’m simply citing possible scenarios wherein something wouldn’t go as originally planned. Best be prepared, right?
But with all that talk, I’m actually fascinated …read more

Traditional Wedding Fashion: Shinto Wedding

The reason why I love looking through random photos online is that I discover a lot of different wedding ceremonies. Naturally, what sets these photos apart is the apparent uniqueness in how the wedding couple were garbed. In this case, my attention is turned to a Shinto wedding ceremony being held at the Tamukeyama Shrine wonderfully captured by a photographer passer-by.
No, these people aren’t dressed up for Halloween — too early for that anyway — or some play. It’s the real deal. They’re getting hitched!

Red is the Color of Love After All

Red is the Color of Love After All

Personally, I like the red color. It’s rich, vibrant and meaningful. It’s a known fact that Red is the color of love so it’s no surprise that it can be a prime choice for a color motif for a wedding.
Dabbing the color here and there, it creates a very strong feminine feel to a wedding celebration. If you love the color and have been hesitant to use it perhaps these wedding dresses will provide great influence in prodding you to going ahead with the idea.

Dressed to Marry a Russian Tsar

Ever wondered how it must have felt like marrying a Russian Tsar? Wouldn’t it feel like you’re marrying royalty? Scratch that. Aren’t emperors royalty? I believe they are. That’s probably why the wedding dress of one of the wives of a Russian Tsar looks as magnificent as this one:

One of the main things that a bride would carefully and thoroughly plan is the wedding dress. It has to be perfect; exactly how she had pictured it ever since she was a little girl dreaming about her wedding when she grows up. One can only wish that …read more

Let Your True Self Shine

Let Your True Self Shine

With all the varied influences in fashion and design tastes nowadays, a bride’s vision of her own wedding can be lead astray. Who wouldn’t want the romance of roses and silver or the allure lush garden weddings? Or perhaps finding yourself grabbing the opportunity to include a Vera Wang wedding dress in the wedding budget.
But in these things, though appropriate and fabulous choices, do you truly find yourself or simply see a victim of all the sales pitches and peer pressure? I encourage you to find beauty in letting yourself shine on your big day.

The Truth About Bridal Shoes

Some of my friends say that the hunt for the perfect bridal shoes is such a waste of time. Said shoes will spend most of its life covered by your wedding gown, so really, there’s not much point in hunting for the one that suits you (the bride) the most, right?
Wrong!
Shoes are as much part of your wedding wardrobe as your wedding gown. Choosing the wrong bridal shoes can make or break a wedding, literally. During your wedding, you will be spending most of your time on your feet so having stylish yet comfortable bridal shoes are a must. If …read more
