Our One Heart

Wedding for Convenience?

Wedding for Convenience?

Have you seen the movie “The Proposal”? It stars Sandra Bullock. One of my favorite ‘nice’ stars. Sandra is so wholesome!
I haven’t and I’m just trying to find a free day in my calendar to go watch the movie with my daughter and girlfriends. We were supposed to watch it on Friday last week but for one reason or the other, our girls’ night out was cancelled.
Imagine, marrying your boss so she can stay in the country legally. I am sure there are couples who have done this in the past. Not that I know anyone personally. Mind you. It’s …read more

Wedding at Grey’s Anatomy?

Wedding at Grey’s Anatomy?

Ooohh, I can’t wait to watch the 100th episode of Grey’s Anatomy. According to creator, Shonda Rhimes, an important milestone will happen at Derek and Meredith’s wedding.

So, there will be a wedding between our favourite couple but there is something important that will happen on their wedding day? I wonder if there’ll be a bomb shell like Derek’s lovechild making an appearance OR Meredith getting cold feet.
I can’t wait to watch this episode!
“The only thing I’ll tell you about the 100th [episode] is that it takes place on Meredith and Derek’s wedding day,” Rhimes told the Associated Press at the …read more

Brothers and Sisters Show: Robert and Kitty’s Wedding Vows

Brothers and Sisters Show: Robert and Kitty’s Wedding Vows

I liked Robert and Kitty’s wedding vows. It seemed spontaneous on Kitty’s part (she’s a great actress eh?). Here is the text of the vows:
Robert: “Kitty, I ask you to marry me. To say I love you seems inadequate because I cannot imagine my life without you. Because when I’m cynical you give me hope. In times where I felt I was loosing my way you’ve been my guidepost. I love you more with each passing day, so I give you my hand, my heart, and my love. “
Kitty: “You are so many things to me… you’re this brilliant poised …read more

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Wedding Photo

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Wedding Photo

Well, this photo before you is not what Sarah Jessica Parker wore at her own wedding. This is a still shot from the movie “Sex and the City” due to be released in 2008. View the rest of the photos HERE.
Would you wear something like this for your wedding?
Did you know at SJP’s own wedding, she wore black and regretted it?
Sarah revealed to US Magazine:
“I wore black on my wedding day, and I really regret that,” Parker says in the October issue of Marie Claire. “I was too embarrassed to get married in white, and both Matthew [Broderick, her husband …read more

Movies About Weddings

I just heard about the movie, Wedding Crashers today. But, I haven’t seen any trailers yet. What about you?
I’m also curious about other wedding-themed movies that you know of. At the moment, I can only think of My Bestfriend’s Wedding, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and Three Weddings and a Funeral. I’m sure there are plenty of others that escape me at the moment. In any case, do you have any faves? Which ones?

Starter Marriages, Anyone?

Kate Harrison is the British author of the novel, The Starter Marriage. Apparently, starter marriages are “first marriages that last only a short time, do not produce children and end in a clean divorce.” It’s a new phenomenon. While I’m aware that these things happen, I never realised that a new term has evolved. Anyway, if you’re interested in this topic, Kate has The Starter Marriage Survey on her web site.

Wedding-Themed Novels and Other Fiction

Wedding-Themed Novels and Other Fiction

If you read fiction — I guess, particularly “chick lit” — I’m sure you must’ve encountered novels and stories that are mostly about weddings. You know, where the basic plot is about someone getting engaged, planning a wedding, or something.
Anyway, I was just wondering about your favourite wedding-themed novel. You see, I’m trying to think of mine but I can’t seem to come up with any titles at the moment. Maybe when I hear from you, it’ll jog my memory.
The Wedding of Cathy and Irving is not a novel, but it’s a pretty cute comic that I’ve enjoyed …read more
