You and your spouse-to-be skydiving enthusiasts? Why not skydive on your wedding to celebrate your special day?

This is what Jeanie and Jamy of Pennsylvania did!

Talk about taking the plunge. Jeanie Dulski and Jamy Knittle actually took two plunges on Friday: First, they got married at Hazleton Municipal Airport, then they went skydiving.

As Dulski explained it: “Getting married is scarier than jumping out of a plane.”

Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta performed the ceremony on the ground for Dulski and Knittle, both 30. About 45 minutes later, the bride and groom took a plane up to 10,000 feet and leaped out.

It was the second marriage but first skydive for Dulski, who made a tandem jump with an instructor. Knittle, who had skydived once before, jumped separately.

Barletta called it perhaps the most unusual wedding ceremony he has performed.

“I’m sure my wife would like to see me jump out of an airplane without a parachute,” he joked.

Ready Abygail’s story as she reveals how she got the wedding of her dreams without going bankrupt:

I honestly don’t know how much a wedding is going to cost in other countries, I’m only telling you this in context of the Filipino culture. And when you talk of Filipino weddings, you would know that weddings here in this country is not just a family affair—it’s a celebration that involves, most often than not, the entire clans of the bride and groom.

I don’t understand it much either, to tell you the truth. Weddings here are such huge events that even if a family isn’t well-off (like us!), they’d want an extravagant wedding (or “bongga,” in colloquial terms). A “simple” wedding here in the Philippines can mean a lot of things—having 50 guests instead of 100, or having a judge perform the rite and treat just about a dozen people to dinner for a reception. With all these different perceptions of what a “simple” wedding here means, allow me to just describe to you our wedding so you’ll have a pretty good idea of what came about with that Php155,000 (approximately US$3,000) budget.

My husband, Marc and I, had a church wedding in an air-conditioned parish. Our reception was held at a nearby clubhouse, with a band performing amidst bubbles and mood lighting while 200 guests were provided with full-course dinner and a chocolate fountain. We also paid for the gowns and Barong Tagalogs of our entourage including our own, and had 5 photographers and a videographer documenting the event every step of the way.

Tracy Marini, 38, a Maitland event planner and bridal consultant whose company, Eventfully Yours, and a client couple are featured in the pilot of a new reality show on the TLC cable-television network, I Do . . . Again!, scheduled for May 23. Marini spoke with staff writer Laura Brost.

Question: What is this TLC show about?
Answer: It is about second marriages and, back in June, I got an e-mail from a producer at TLC looking for couples who were getting married for a second time and had at least four children between the two of them. ….. It’s an hour show, so I’m guessing it’ll be two minutes of wedding and 58 minutes of their life.

Q: How did you get chosen for the show? A: It was just a general e-mail like, “TLC is looking for a couple getting married for the second time with four or more children — do you have anybody that fits that description?”

Q: How was it being followed around by a camera?
A: At first it was exciting, and then it got old. [Laughs.] After a few days — because it was around the clock — they pretty much moved in with my couple and had a camera crew set up in there. ….. It was nonstop for them for, I believe it was a week.

Q: Do you expect more business from the coverage?
A: I kind of go back and forth in my head and wonder what it’s going to do. But I can’t help but to think it would help.

Q: What made you want to get into this business?
A: I planned events for over 10 years through UCF and Florida Southern College [in Lakeland], and it was just something that I loved. And when I had David, my son, I decided to stay at home. Then realized I needed to do a little bit of work, and that was when I started the business. I started off very slow; I think my first year I only did maybe seven or eight weddings, but it was perfect for me because David was young and I knew I wanted to have another child. So it’s grown the way I’ve wanted it to, so I’m hoping with the show coming out that it’s just at the right time, because my kids are a little bit older now.

Q: Do you think Central Florida is a better-than-average market for wedding and event planning?
A: I guess if you are just talking the Florida area, I would think Miami would be pretty hot. But Orlando — just because it’s such a big attraction area — just what I know of there’re 23 coordinators in the Central Florida area, and we all do pretty good.

 So mum, why Boxing Day?

Mum: I never really enjoyed Christmas, being the eldest in the family it meant that Christmas to me was always working hard. This way I had a Christmas when I could enjoy it, and others were helping me.

How did your family react?

Mum: My dad was not happy as he always went shooting on Boxing Day, and he had to postpone it…he was not at all impressed with the date…though I got away with it as I know I was the apple of his eye.

What was the best part of getting married on Boxing Day?

Mum: It meant that your Dad never forgot our anniversary!!!
