Apart from a fantastically made wedding video, the choice in background music to accompany the moving pictures made all the difference. The song is indeed magical like how my friend described it and I now understand why she loves the song. Good pick, S!

Though, what I’ve noticed so far are the popularity of video presentations that show photos of the couple when they were children, couple photos, then pre-nup or engagement photos. What they’re sharing may be interesting and relevant but it lacks the cohesiveness if compared with a wedding video that shares the love story — from how they met leading up to the wedding proposal.

A great example is this wedding video (photo-slide show, to be more accurate) done in manga (Japanese comics) style.

It’s a shame that I can’t read Japanese but looking through the flow of the photos, it gave me an idea of what the love story was all about. If I were one of the wedding guests watching this, it would make sense on why it was being shown during the wedding. I may love to look at photos and all but if the ones I’m forced to look at failed to convey a message relevant to the occasion, it won’t hold my attention for too long. Besides, don’t we all love stories?

I hope this wedding video inspires you to share your own love story on your wedding day. I’m sure your guests will be interested to watch it!

On top of the engagement photo session, if the people you hired offer this service, it’ll be a good thing to consider. Include a pre-wedding/engagement cinematography session, too.

I understand it can be a bit troublesome especially for couples who aren’t used to being in front of the camera a lot. The idea of “acting” or posing while a video of them is being shot can be intimidating but think of what it can do for you, your wedding and the rest of your life — a memory in stills (photos) and moving pictures.

While this particular video was used as an intro to the couple’s wedding, it also can be used as part of the celebratory program set during the wedding reception or perhaps to get the word out that you folks are getting married, part of the invitation or show it during your engagement or pre-wedding parties.

What the couple did was they started out with a slow song (a different one) and then broke out into the funny dance ala Uma Thurman and John Travolta. I loved the audience reaction the best though. Everyone was clapping and having a lot of fun cheering the couple along. So cute!

I think these wedding dances are putting a lot of pressure on couples to top the dance or gimmick they saw at the last wedding especially if most their wedding guests are guests from previous weddings they’ve attended as well.

TIP: If you’re not comfortable about doing these things, keep it simple. There’s no point in going over the top for the sake of it.

Made me cry if truth be told! The song “Turn to Stone” can also be used as the bridal march song eh? Or perhaps the song to the first wedding dance?

The wedding film above runs for about 12 minutes. It’s grainy like a film set in the 1980s. Jason used a Super 8 film for this. I love the way it was covered. So unobtrusive catching the bride, groom and their guests at their most natural, unassuming selves. The film was interspersed with interviews here and there. The wedding vows were nothing out of the ordinary but the mood, oh the mood of the video was fun, fun, fun. They couple looks so in love.

The wedding was at 7am but as you can see in the video, they were partying till late at night! They have a lot of energy!
