Transitioning from early church ceremony to evening reception

We have a question from one of our readers Mary Lou, has a question:

Question:

What should a woman guest wear that transitions from an early church ceremony into an evening reception?

My answer:
I have attended several weddings where the wedding ceremony was around 2 to 3pm and the reception was not until about 6pm. What I did was to wear a dress (not sparkly) for the ceremony then jazz it up with a sparkly/glittery shawl or bolero or shrug for the evening. You can also choose to wear a light coloured shawl to go with your dress for the ceremony and change into a glittery one for the evening reception.

What about the others, have you got other tips?
