Wedding Engagement Party Theme Ideas

When MrG and I got engaged, we didn’t really have an engagement party. Perhaps because we were doing the whole Long-Distance Relationship (LDR) thing back then. I mean, I was based in the Philippines and he was in New Zealand. We met up in the US and got engaged there so having an engagement party to announce our wedding wasn’t really practical. Yes, we did celebrate the engagement by going out for a nice meal but it wasn’t the same.

Now, if I could go back and do it again, I’d definitely have a wedding engagement party. But since I can’t, I’d just help you brides-to-be out there! Here are some theme ideas I have researched for those planning their own engagement parties:

  • Beach party, complete with grass skirts and coconut drinks
  • Renaissance party as the couple becomes more enlightened about their relationship
  • Romantic themes: starry nights, Paris, or sunset
  • Nostalgic themes: recreating how the couple met or where they took their first date
  • Humorous themes: ball and chain, meet the in-laws, etc.

If it was me as I love party themes, I’d go for the Romantic-Beach combo party theme. I’d love, love a beach party and announcing our wedding engagement as the sun is setting behind us….awwww

We got engagement party supplies for our daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law at ShindigZ.com. They were beautiful and affordable!
