I have several Halloween books that I really enjoy. I was in visiting one of our special needs classes the other day and I was reading some stories to the kids. It reminded me of some Halloween titles that I haven’t thought of for a while, so I thought I’d share the list with you.
1. The Berenstain Bears Halloween was one of my son’s favorites when he was younger. I remember reading it over and over to him around this time of year a few years ago. Brother and Sister Bear put on their Halloween costumes to go trick or treating for the first time. They’re frightened of Miz McGrizz’s spooky house, and fear a witch may live there. They find out that looks can be deceiving when Miz McGrizz invites them in for a treat.
2. 5 Little Pumpkins is one of the stories I read to the class the other day. It’s a quick but fun Halloween story. You can have the kids play along with what’s happening to the five little pumpkins.
3. It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is a Halloween classic at our house. I love the cartoon, but the book is pretty cool too. Every year around this time kids start dreaming about The Great Pumpkin. Kids can wait in the pumpkin patch with Linus and Sally and await his arrival.
4. Room On The Broom is a fun story about a little witch who keeps loosing things, but gaining animal friends on her broom. It’s a light hearted Halloween tale that children enjoy.
5. Big Pumpkin is a funny little rhyming story about green-faced witch, with pickle-shaped nose and chin and a big pumpkin of course.

Your list is great, I always struggle with picking favorites. I do love Eve Bunting’s Scary Scary Halloween book.
We LOVE to read! I have so many favorites, it’s difficult to narrow it down to just five. I guess as a mom and elementary school Library Media Specialist, my favorite October books to read aloud would be The Night Before Halloween, Go Away Big Green Monster, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, The Pumpkin Book and Stellaluna – just LOVE Stellaluna!! When I was a classroom teacher, I did so many activities with my students centering around these books – Owl Moon is a great one too!!
