Christmas Trees For Kids

While your setting up your Christmas decorations this year, why not let your children decorate a Christmas tree of their own. All you need is a small 3 foot tree, help them string the lights, then let them decorate.
You can make ornaments, or let them come up with a theme and decorate it with their own toys or collections. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Race car or Webkinz(tm) themed Christmas trees:
Snowmen themed Christmas trees:
Popular characters like Hannah Montana(tm), Barbie(tm) or Star Wars(tm) make cute trees, and especially if your child already has a collection.
Use your child’s favorite hobbies for inspiration:
Or their favorite sport, or sports team:
Or make your own ornaments:
Whatever you and your children come up with. If you have a fireplace mantle, or buffet table they would be perfect for showcasing your child’s own individual trees. It doesn’t have to cost a ton of money, just use what you already have, or create your own decorations from scratch. The most important thing is to have fun with it and help your children create their masterpiece.

Radio Flyer Classic Walker Wagon

It’s starting to get warmer in my neck of the woods and we are enjoying every minute of it. As soon as it gets a little warm, our kids break out the scooters, bikes and skates and they love to go on walks in our neighborhood.
When my youngest was between 1 and 2, he liked to cry a lot. Why? We are still trying to figure that out. Anyway, my husband used to take him on many, many walks in his little wagon. Those were peaceful moments and a bonding time for them both. If my little guy were to pick between me or his dad taking him on a walk, he would pick his dad hands down. I’ll stick to doing puzzles and reading books I guess.
I saw this Radio Flyer Classic Walker Wagon and it just made me smile. I love wagons. Every kid should have a wagon, don’t you agree?

How cute would this little Webkinz reindeer look under the tree? This is one of Amazon’s hot toys right now.
My kids are still Webkinz crazy and are having a blast buying items for their virtual rooms. I think I might snatch up one of these reindeers and use it as Christmas decor.
Do You Still Shop at Build-a-Bear?

My husband and I took the kids to the mall today. My daughter got her ear’s pierced 6 weeks ago today and really needed some new earrings. Being forced to wear the same ones for 6 weeks was just absolute torture.
We walked around the mall and went into all the kids’ stores. The older our kids get, the better they get at window shopping. What a blessing! We made it out of there with two 79 cent hot wheels cars and earrings. Not bad, not bad at all.
We also went into Build-a-Bear and noticed something. It was totally dead. There was just us and one other mom in there. I thought that was odd. Was is just a fluke? It was a busy Saturday afternoon and the mall was packed, but not that store. That’s when we started wondering if it’s like that everyday.
I wonder if toys like Webkinz, which have an interactive online world, are taking over. What do you think? Have you shopped at Build-a-Bear in awhile? We sure haven’t.

I mentioned the other day how we have joined the Webkinz craze a little late, but nevertheless, my kids are still having a blast with them. I promised you a picture or two after we got them all dressed up, so here you go. (Oh, and I also promise NOT to post pictures of my kids on here everyday. This one was just too cute though, lol!)
As you can see we’ve got a biker Beagle, a basketball playing Cocker Spaniel and a very stylin’ Chihuahua. My kids are in the process of building their Webkinz a house made out of cardboard boxes in the garage/play room. What’s next – transportation around town?
Webkinz, Webkinz and More Webkinz

I know Webkinz is old news and Kerri and Hsien did several posts about the whole craze and what a craze it was!
We joined the craze late and are just now experiencing what Webkinz is all about. I actually tried getting my kids interested in it when it first came out, but my two older ones thought it was a little babyish. I mean hello, it’s a stuffed animal mom.
My daughter and I were in Justice for girls the other day and she saw a Webkinz Chihuahua and decided to spend her allowance on it. It is a cute stuffed animal!
When we got home, she hopped on-line immediately to register her chihuahua, give it a name and see what this website was all about. To make a long story short…I now have to set the timer and give her a limit to her addiction.
Also, we just received in the mail the Beagle Webkinz and the Webkinz Cocker Spaniel
as well as some clothes for them. These are for my sons, who after seeing how much my daughter enjoyed it, wanted in on the action too!
I was really impressed with everything the website included and it’s something I am comfortable with them being on. I give my kids the safe internet talk at least once a week. Yeah, they get tired of it but I’m taking no chances.
Okay, so now we have a house with 3 Webkinz and 2 computers. Hmmmm, did life just more complicated or what? I’ll be sure and post a picture of our Webkinz all dressed up in the next few days.

Whenever I write about Webkinz, there’s a flurry of people coming to see what’s up. So to you Webkinz lovers, HI!!! Last Friday on the CBS Early Show, Joie Chen reported on the Webkinz craze. I loved the kids she featured. They were so enthusiastic about the toys but even more so about being on the Internet playing with the toys’ virtual characters. My son was fascinated by the segment and I bet you will be too. Watch the Webkinz video.
What Webkinz animals are in your family?
Thanks to my mom for the video link!
