Bratz Dolls vs. Pussycat Dolls

Last month, I was looking for a birthday gift for a classmate of my son’s who’s going to be turning four. Noticing how much the other girls in the class love dolls, I decided to get her a doll. It was pretty tough trying to find a doll that was sweet and innocent instead of those slightly inappropriate, but extremely popular Bratz dolls. Considering how much “skin” the Bratz dolls show and the make-up and other bling they sport, I couldn’t believe that Hasbro decided Pussycat Dolls would be over the top.

On Monday the charges flew: They were called little “stripper dolls” that encourage children to “engage in eroticized play.”
By Wednesday, Hasbro’s planned release of “The Pussycat Dolls,” a line of toys based on the all-female pop group of the same name, was canceled.
I decided on a Disney Little Princess 12″ Soft & Sweet: Cinderella and accompanying book. This is the kind of doll I feel comfortable buying for little girls.

I get crabby all over again every time I’m at a store and see what’s marketed to little girls. I don’t often agree with the overly zealous sorts, but when it comes to age-appropriate toys and clothing, especially for the girls, I find myself agreeing. It’s just so trashy!!! And then when you want to find something for a girl who’s out of pre-school, but not outgrown dolls and such, there really isn’t much!!
Times like that are when I’m a little bit glad I have no daughters.
Those dolls are just terrible. Even worse are the Bling Bling Barbie dolls. I actually wrote an entire blog dedicated to them when I first saw them advertised on television. They look like little hookers and come with fake nails for 4 year olds. Of course, all parents are different and no one should tell anyone else how to parent their children, but I don’t want my daughter’s to value “Bling” and “clubs” and “cell phones” and fake nails EVER! nevermind when they’re four years old!!!!!!! OH MY!!!!!
I once heard Barbie and other dolls of her tradition, of which Bratz is one line, as part of the “let’s go shopping,” adventure training that permeates the lives of wealthy, useless women like Paris Hilton.
Makes me want to run out an creat a line of dolls based on Harriet Tubman, Marie Curie, and Florence Nightingale.

I don’t like Bratz either. And until just recently my young girls were calling them “Rats” … totally by accident mind you. They misheard me one day, and well, I never bothered correcting them!

Thank you for NOT purchasing those things. We’ve flipped past the cartoon a couple times, and I quickly taught Samantha that it is NOT something she is allowed to watch.

Yes, I’d agree that these dolls are very inappropriate. I really hope I don’t have to deal with someone buying these for my daughter.
they are scary and since the barbie dollz ere not selling as much as th bratz dolls they started making them sluty so they would sell whowould like a doll with an oversized head and way overdone makeup for their kid?
I’m notifying to all parents that America’s top selling doll ( Barbie ) has been recently seen a rash of recalls due, to the contamination of lead which can cause a hazard for children.
