Centuries Old Rocking Horse Auctioned

September 21, 2006 by Lei

How much do you think your children’s toys will be worth in 400 years? A rocking horse from the 1600’s and owned by Charles I has been purchased for £25,000 ($47,040).

Noreen Marshall, curator at the Museum of Childhood:

Children’s toys have not always been highly regarded as important objects and an association with Charles I could have put it at even higher risk, especially as a consequence of the civil war.

  3. Wouldn’t be the first time. :( Of course, it’s not like I have that kind of cash lying around anyway.

  4. Just auction off some of your kids’ toys!! :D

  5. I’ll take my TMX Elmo and auction him on Christmas Eve. Heehee. (No, I didn’t go get one.)
