I live in a place where it routinely falls below freezing many months out of the year, or is very chilly. Many people keep their houses chilly (or downright cold) to save money. If you’re too cold to sleep well, you won’t be rested enough to learn well either. So I think there’s a place for stuff like this. It would be odd to worry about pj’s in warmer regions though.

Bald Man: Of course you’re right. I know a new pair of PJ’s make me feel happy. But at the same time, my mom doesn’t give a whit about things like that. She and my dad grew up with less money so I think it really depends on the person. I’d be interested to hear what the recipients think.

But, I just gotta wonder if the money that go towards buying new pajamas could be better spent on other things like food, educational materials, or medicine.

True, PJs are the most pressing or dire need, but don’t underestimate the simple frivolities that make us feel a little more human, a little more “normal.”
