Cooperative Children’s Board Games

For a competitive person like me, it’s hard to imagine doing anything without a winner and a loser. I’m exaggerating, but I do like to be among the best and if I’m not, I’ll redouble my efforts.
Despite my competitive attitude, I know it’s important to learn when to cooperate with other people to achieve a common goal. Perhaps one way to teach the concept to my four-year-old is through cooperative board games available at CooperativeGames.com.
We feel that playing a game cooperatively brings out the best in every player. Our games contain one simple concept – all players’ work together to attain a mutually desirable goal. Strategies, resources and decisions are shared. The challenge and enjoyment is in the teamwork. Think of the important message this is giving to children.

Very cool concept. I’m not sure I would be willing to give up competitive games for good but I do think it would be a fun change of pace, especially with little kids.

I just about sent Bald Man into a psychological breakdown the first time we played Monopoly together. When he asked why I kept just going around the board and not buying properties, I told him I thought they were a waste of money, and that it was more about just playing the game with friends. Guess who’s not competitive.
I think I need to check these new games out!!!
Kerri: Then you would have fun with my sis and me. We had silly rules like if someone already owned one color of property, nobody else could buy that color so that the first owner could collect them all. To this day I still don’t know how to play Monopoly properly.
This is a fantastic concept, and I’ll blog the idea that maybe we can use them when training adults to work in teams!! But I remember learning just how competitive I was, and the lessons of winning and losing gracefully at about the age of three. They were hard lessons, but playing cards and board games taught them – well at least I think they did – maybe they taught us about ourselves, and we work at it from then on

Board games and sports are great ways for kids to learn cooperation. I was never good at sports and wasn’t so hot at board games either but they both did me good.

Soo, I found this game yesterday, and I completely fell in LOVE!
It’s basically like WoW, an 3D-MMORPG, and it had its open beta launch only few days ago (17th January). Go to check http://holic.netgame.com, if youre interested/bored.
The game is pretty big compared to Dofus (Only the installer is 950Mb, actual game is abit lower than 2Gb.), but, if youre interested, and will start playing, I shall be at the First server, an Rogue called Crocodile. Don’t hesitate to PM me. ^^
