Disney Magic Selections

dms.jpgThe Disney Magic Selections line of foods started appearing on the shelves of our local Kroger a few months back. I was wondering how much of an arm and a leg the new cereals, cookies, and dried fruits sporting the likenesses of Cinderella, The Incredibles, and Monsters, Inc. characters were going to be.

Surprisingly, not too expensive. It turns out that the Disney Magic Selections line of products are actually a Kroger line of foods. Reading the press release, it sounds as if the plan was to produce a line of foods that would be attractive to kids and would also include many healthy choices in that brand.

So far, we’ve tried a couple of the cereals, the cookies, the little packages of dried fruit (like the little boxes of raisins, but these include dried cranberries, apricots and apples as well), and the boxes of flavored gelatin. The kids have really liked the products, and I really like the prices. For example, the box of Princess Gems (which I would say is similar to Lucky Charms) cost less than a major mr.jpgbrand box of cereal by a dollar or two per box. And the Disney/Pixar tattoos that came with the Incrediberry Crunch cereal (I think that was the name of the Cap’n Crunch Crunchberries look-a-like cereal) really brought smiles to the kids’ faces. Very fun. :) Really, not much has made me smile more these days than my one-year old running around saying, “Tattoooooo….tattoooooo….”

Have you tried anything from this line of products? Do your kids enjoy them?

My 2 year old loves the Disney Magic Selections Pediatric Drink. I loved that it was cheaper than the other brand name stuff by about 2 bucks a case. Suddenly late 2008 I noticed the Disney Pediatric Drinks were on clearance. A case of 6 was going for like 4 bucks, so I stocked up and took all of the Vanillas that they had left (about 10 cases). Well, my daughters almost drank thru them all, and I’ve been checking Kroger to see if they bring it back, but no such luck. I hope to see it back, and I’m going to start checking other Kroger locations just in case.
